The Nigerian Navy’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) Escravos has deactivated four illegal refining sites in Warri South-West Local Council, Delta State. The Commanding Officer of the FOB, Escravos, Navy Capt. Ikenna Okoloagu, disclosed this to journalists yesterday, revealing that the illegal refining sites were located at Obodo in Omadinho Community.
He explained that the successful operation was part of the ongoing Operation Delta Sanity II, and was based on credible information.
“The Nigerian Navy’s fight against crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and other acts of economic sabotage yielded results again on Wednesday,” he said.
“The FOB, Escravos discovered and deactivated four illegal refining sites at Obodo in Omadinho Community, Warri South-West. The sites were laden with about 2,500 litres of stolen crude oil and 2,200 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gasoline Oil contained in five ovens, 11 dug-out pits, and 25 polythene sacks.”
Okoloagu warned would-be economic saboteurs in the oil sector to desist from illegal activities, declaring that anyone caught would face the full wrath of the law. He further emphasised that the Base would continue to prevent perpetrators from carrying out their illegal activities within its areas of responsibility.
