Reps pass N346b NDDC budget


Reps probe NIMASA, NDIC over unaudited accounts

THE House of Representatives on Wednesday passed the N346.388 billion Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) budget for 2019.

It was passed by the Committee of Supply – a committee of the whole House for the purpose of considering and voting on expenditure.

The budget is for NDDC’s development projects for the financial year ending on May 31, 2020.

In the budget, N1. 29 billion was earmarked for the recruitment of the board members’ aides.

Thereafter, the House approved “the issue from the Statutory Revenue Fund of the NDDC, the total sum of N346,388,900,000.00”.

Of the approved amount, N22,338,190,000 is for personnel expenditure.

The sum of N13, 466, 810, 000 is for overhead expenditure.

Internal Capital Expenditure has the sum of N4,083,000,000.

Also, N306, 500, 900, 000 is for development projects “for the service of the NDDC”.

In a briefing after the plenary, Chairman of the NDDC Committee, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, said the budget was for 2019 and will end on May 31.

The 2020 budget has been received and is being worked on, he said.
