PDP Fixes Date To Hold National Convention

The National Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday fixed October 30-31st, 2021 for the party’s national convention.

Naija News reports that this was announced to newsmen by the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Aminu Tambuwal.

He made the announcement after the PDP’s National Caucus meeting held in Abuja, on Friday.

After Promising To Implement MoU With Striking Resident Doctors, FG Issues Order For Implementation Of ‘No Work, No Pay’ Rule

Striking resident doctors in Nigeria and other concerned health workers will not be paid for the period they are on strike, the federal government has declared.

According to a memo, as it affects the ongoing strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), the Ministry of Labour and Employment has advised the Federal Ministry of Health to implement the ‘no work, no pay’ directive for the striking doctors.

To this end, the Ministry of Health has also dispatched letters instructing Chief Medical Directors and Managing Directors of federal tertiary hospitals to implement the ‘no work, no pay’ policy.

Chamberlain Usoh and Kayode Okikiolu, anchors of Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, on Friday confirmed their invite to Abuja.

Naija News had on Thursday confirmed that Usoh and Okikiolu were invited to the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, headquarters over an interview they anchored.

Speaking in Sunrise Daily on Friday, the duo stated that they were invited by the NBC to make some clarification on the interviews.

Ohanaeze Calls Uzodinma ‘Confirmed Saboteur’, Threatens Sanctions Against Imo Governor

For being the first to openly reject the resolution of the 17 southern governors to enact anti-open grazing legislation in their respective states, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Friday called Governor Hope Uzodinma “a confirmed saboteur” who will “surely taste the retribution of God and wrath of the people”.

The Imo governor serving under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had declared that there is no law forbidding open grazing by cattle rearers in the South-East state, adding that his government was trying to regulate grazing activities through collaboration between the farmers and herders.

Naija News recalls that the 17 governors of the southern states had in a meeting held in Lagos on July 5, 2021, urged states in the region to ensure that the legislation against open grazing of cattle was put in place on or before September 1.

Multichoice/DSTV Ordered To Pay FG $2.2bn Over Unremitted 900bn VAT Paid By Subscribers

The Tax Appeal Tribunal (TAT) has ordered Multichoice Nigeria Limited to pay 50 per cent of N1.8 trillion or N900 billion which the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) determined through a forensic audit of the parent company of DSTV and GOTV.

Naija News reports that the sum constitutes what the tax agency calculated as due in taxation to the Federal Government of Nigeria from Multichoice after an investigation over several months to determine the extent to which Multichoice has been evading taxes in Nigeria.

The tribunal sitting in Lagos also ordered the South African firm to pay an additional N90 billion or 10 per cent of the N900 billion to the FIRS, approximating to $2.2bn, precedent to hearing of its appeal against the Demand Note of N1, 822, 923,909,313.94 served on it by the tax agency as the assessed amount owed over the years that it has failed to pay tax.

Bandit Terrorists Release Abducted Zamfara Agric Students, Teachers

Bandit terrorists have reportedly released students and teachers of the of Zamfara State College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Bakura.

Naija News understands that the students where released on Thursday and would be brought before Governor Bello Matawalle today, Friday.

Recall that the terrorists had attacked Zamfara College of Agriculture in Bakura Local Government Area on the 16th of August, 2021, and abducted three staff, 15 students and a driver.

Alleged IPOB Spy, Gloria Okolie Granted Bail By Court

After 74 days in the custody of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigeria Police, alleged IPOB spy, Gloria Okolie has finally been granted bail.

Naija News reports 21-year-old Okolie was granted bail by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Okolie landed in the Police net for an alleged relationship with a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Fighter Helicopter Shoots Passenger Boat In Rivers

A fighter helicopter has reportedly shot a wooden passenger boat travelling from Port Harcourt to Bonny in Rivers State.

It was gathered that many occupants who were severely injured have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

An eye witnesses at the Bonny-Nembe waterside where the boat took off from in Port Harcourt, disclosed that there were casualties.

Hushpuppi: Again Kyari Deletes Fresh Facebook Post

Embattled deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari has deleted a recent post on his Facebook account, shortly after the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, received report from the panel set up to investigate Kyari’s involvement in a $1.1m fraud carried out by confessed internet fraudster, Hushpuppi.

Recall that the suspended former Head of the Intelligence Response Team on August 4th also deleted a post on his account and ever since has been away from social media.

Kyari on Thursday shared a video posted by one Sanda Tobacco showing a cart pusher displaying some roller skating skills.
