The Late Amb. Joe Tonye Fubara Iyalla (1928-2019), popularly referred to as “Joe Iyalla”, “JT”or “JTF” was laid to rest at the Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi in Lagos yesterday, 5^th March, 2019 following a funeral service at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos. The events marking his final journey home, including a post-interment reception were well attended by members of the diplomatic community, family, friends and well-wishers.

The day struck a chord with me as I recalled memories of the late Uncle JT’s visits to our late Big Daddy, Chief George Weikezi at 27 Calcutta Crescent at Apapa in the eighties. He was one of several great Ijaw persons that rendezvous there that I always admired.

May His Soul Rest In Peace.
