Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, on Friday signed the 2019 Appropriation Bill of N299 billion into law.
Governor Dickson, who also assented into law, the Administration of Criminal Justice Bill in Government House, Yenagoa, said he had earlier forwarded an appropriation estimate of N275 billion to the State House of Assembly, which it increased it to N299 billion.
The Governor said he was convinced that the budget would support the completion of a lot of ongoing projectsin view of the medium-term expenditure guide of the state government.
Governor Dickson who observed that investments made in every sector had been targetted at turning around a lot of critical areas, however, noted that a number of investments still needed to be made in the areas of education, healthcare and other infrastructure.
According to him, in the next one or two weeks, he intends to drive on the Oporoma Road in company with the leadership of the Central Senatorial District.
He called on the House Committee on Works to carry out more oversight functions towards ensuring that contractors handling projects are held accountable to agreed timelines.
