Northern Youths Hail Tantita’s Peace Advocacy In Niger Delta

A group, Northern Youths Progressive Network (NYPN) has called on warring communities in the Niger Delta to sheath their swords and cooperate with the indigenous private security outfit, Tantita Security Services’ peace and security initiatives in order to promote peaceful coexistence in the region.

Its convener, Comrade Bala Mohammed, in a press statement while reacting to the ongoing crisis between Okoloba and Okuama communities in Delta State, which led to the recent gruesome murder of 17 Army personnel deployed to the area for peace mission, said that the crisis is a great setback to government’s determination to restore peace and order in the troubled flashpoints of the country.

Mohammed said that Tantita Security Services has displayed immense goodwill by helping the Federal Government through an effective collaboration with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), to tackle crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism and ending illegal refining of petroleum products, which is having devastating effects on the environment in the region.

He said that Tantita’s efforts have helped increase crude oil production, enabling Nigeria to meet its OPEC quota, which became impossible in the past, and improved Nigeria’s foreign reserves, thereby boosting the confidence of foreign investors in the nation’s oil and gas sector.

The NYPN leader noted that Nigeria cannot afford another theatre of violence in the Niger Delta region, hence Tantita Security Services should be emulated as an example to youths across the region.

He also commended the private security outfit for its contribution to ending piracy in the Niger Delta marine domain and creating employment opportunities for hundreds of Niger Delta youths.

Mohammed, therefore, urged the federal government to continue to provide the necessary support, resources, and reinforcement to security agencies involved in maintaining law and order across the country and in particular the Niger Delta region. (Leadership.ng)
