Notice is hereby given that a workshop is being planned in Yenagoa with the following theme:

“Credible Governorship Election 2019 and Good Governance in Bayelsa State – Building Consensus through the Ijaw Charter and Ijaw Nation Code of Ethics, Leadership and Governance (CELG).”

The workshop is planned to commence at 12 noon on 22-May, 2019 at the De Gracious Event Center, Bayelsa Palm Road, Yenagoa.

The Ijaw Nation Forum (INF) is collaborating with the Ijaw Elders Forum (IEF), Lagos and other Ijaw organizations to organize the workshop to discuss the need for peaceful, credible and issue-based elections in the November 2, 2019 Governorship elections in Bayelsa State. The other collaborative organizations are the Ijaw Professionals Organization (IPA), EMBASARA Foundation, and the Ijaw Women Connect (IWC).  INC and IYC as well as other stakeholders are also being engaged to partner and/or participate in the workshop.

Governorship Aspirants are expected to attend this all-important, NON-PARTISAN and independently sponsored workshop.

The draft Ijaw Charter as well as the Ijaw Nation Code of Ethics, Leadership and Governance (CELG) documents will be presented and used to drive the discourse towards acceptance and buy-in on the future of Governance in BAYELSA State, as well as in other Ijaw entities in other states.

The overall objective of this IEF led initiative is for us to take proactive steps to avoid any breakdown of law and order and that the process results in peace and progress for our people.
