THE Delta State government has called on occupants of flood prone area of the Delta State to take the advantage of the August break to relocate to higher grounds, nothing that camps will be opened for flood victims due to COVID-19.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, who made the call on Tuesday in Asaba, referred to recent predictions by several meteorological agencies on the impending flood across the country.

Aniagwu stressed that as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and some other factors, the state would not open camps this year and added that individual should not look forward to moving into camp to get free items.

He said, “We will try as much as possible to ensure that we meet our people halfway, but we will not open camps. It is imperative that individuals also take personal responsibility, so that at the end of the day, we do not have cause to record any casualty.”
