Rivers dissolves taskforce, others, plans revalidation

The Rivers State Government has dissolved all taskforces, revenue collecting agencies and others doing business on behalf of the State Signage and Advertising Agency.

Recall that the State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule recently repealed the law establishing the agency following the political crisis that rocked the state.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara had recently appointed a Managing Director for the agency, a move that was opposed by the 27 lawmakers said to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom WIke, as they insisted that the governor acted outside the law for making such appointment without the approval of the Assembly.

However in a new twist, the agency in a statement signed by the RISAA Managing Director, Aye Pepple, announced the dissolution of taskforce, revenue agents, consultants and others, doing business on behalf of the agency.

The statement dated March 15, 2024 and obtained by our correspondent indicted that the dissolution took immediate effect, adding that a revalidation exercise would be conducted at a later date.

The statement reads, “The Rivers State Signage and Advertising Agency hereby announced the dissolution of all taskforces, revenue agents, consultants, contractors and representatives doing business on behalf of the agency with immediate effect.

“Furthermore, there will be a revalidation exercise, whose commencement date will be communicated to all affected parties and until this exercise is concluded the public is advised not to engage in any dealings with anyone on behalf of the agency.

“RISAA reassures all stakeholders of efficient and quality service delivery.” (Punch)
