The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria has threatened to shut down the Rivers State House of Assembly over accrued allowances owed its members.
The association said its members were owed four years’ outfit allowance for 2013, 2014, 2019 and 2020.
The National President, PASAN, Mohammed Usman, who stated this in Port Harcourt on Monday, added that the association had written to the leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly to pay the entitlements within 14 days or face a total shutdown.
He said, “It is so unfortunate that our members at the Rivers State House of Assembly are being denied their outfit allowance for 2013, 2014, 2019 and 2020; the national union will not take it; we will fight this to see that it is addressed.
“The national body of PASAN will write the leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly and if nothing is done after the 14-day ultimatum, believe me, the national union will move to Rivers State, just like the organized labor moved here and we will shut down the House.”
Several calls and a text message to the Chairman of the House Committee on Communication and Training, Enemi George, were not taken and replied to as of the time of filing this story.
